The One Smoothie Bowl to Rule Them All
Every morning when I wake up, I listen to my body, and I use that feedback to decide on what superfoods to eat on that particular day. Nevertheless, there are some things I know I need all the time, and that’s the idea behind this recipe. I wanted to create something that would provide a strong (and delicious) foundation that’s easy to layer onto with anything from extra fiber to omega-3 to other nutrients.
Here’s how it came together:
I started with a wide variety of antioxidant sources - from greens to berries to frozen cauliflower (which I added for volume and texture, as well as extra vitamin C). Then, I layered in healthy coconut butter fats to deliver all of those nutrients right to your cells. I included a banana as a source of potassium (great for pre- or post-workout), and a combination of almond milk and almond butter for protein (along with creamy, decadent flavor)! Finally, for a little sweetness, I chose a manuka honey that’s got some added spirulina, a nutritious plant-based algae that’s packed with vitamins.
And here’s how to make it:
- 2 cups almond milk
- 1 banana
- 1/2 cup frozen cauliflower
- 1/2 packet each of acai and Pitaya Plus
- 1 tsp Berry Bliss
- 1 tsp Green Dream
- 1 Tbsp Berry Bliss Coconut Butter
- 1 tsp Green Bee Honey
- 1 Tbsp almond butter
- Handful of ice
Blend away! When you’ve reached a smooth consistency, pour into a bowl and top with whatever add-ins you like. My favorites are: Granola, chia and hemp seeds (for tons of omega-3s), shredded coconut, cacao nibs and fresh organic berries.
